This Memorial Day the President put a wreath
on the tomb of the unknowns and gave a very nice
speech. It strikes me as funny that during this time
of a clearly unpopular war that the President would
make such an action. I wonder who are the
unknown are they valiant heroes that believe in
righting the worlds wrongs? Then I think what if the
unknowns was a draftee that was forced to leave his
family  and take a plane ride to Vietnam to fight
Charlie. What if the unknown was a slave promised
freedom and equality , but the confederacy were not
quartering negro P.O.W.s and he was killed on sight
never knowing that only his children’s
grandchildren would be able to began reaping the
benefits of his sacrifice. Is the unknown a high
school graduate who took the ASVAB rather than
the SAT and went to Iraq never knowing the
horrors waiting for them in Baghdad and Fallujah. I
wonder if the Unknowns know that while they are
fighting for this president that there families are
receiving substandard aid and if they are injured
they would return to vermin infested hospitals.
Maybe the government knows who is buried there
in Arlington, but they know that the voice that
soldier raised against unjust wars never died with
him.
